THE Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar, the Cross River State capital last week struck out the appeal filed by the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), its governorship candidate and his running mate, Senator John Akpanudoedehe and Chief Ime Umanah for failure to comply with relevant section of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended). A seven day old child by name Baby Etim Asuquo was brutally matcheted on the forehead with about six centimeters (6cm) deep as a result, cerobro spinal fluid popping out immediately after dressing. The cutting on the baby which was intended primarily to kill the child drained greater amount of blood from the child turned the child who initially was fair in complexion to pale. Brutal Killings in,Obufi, Ube communal clash: my shock and surprise – Lawmaker
Ube and Obufi are two neighbouring villages in Okobo local government area of Akwa Ibom State. In 2009, what would have been seen and described as an insignificant issue led to what has claimed many lives today including men and women, boys and girls who, some were kidnapped, houses razed, property that worth millions and naira destroyed, business activities come to a stand still, people deserting their natural abode to an unknown destinations and most pitiful, a-seven-day old child which was received into the planet earth with a cut of about 6cm deep who is currently receiving treatment in the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital in Uyo.
