Nigeria has many large social, economic, political and religious problems. To this end, the federal government had over the years launched such programmes as the War Against Indiscipline WAI, Environmental sanitation campaign, Road safety Campaign Road safety, and several other programmes aimed at bringing to an end some of the nations social ills. The country has of recent been witnessing the problems of armed robbery, militancy, kidnapping, illiteracy, fraud; drug trafficking, disloyalty and ethnicity among several others. This brings to mind the Jos mayhem in which several lives and property had been lost.
Against this background therefore, it is the opinion of the Century Newsfront Newspapers that enough is enough for the unwanton loss of lives and property in Jos for whatever reasons be it religious, ethnic or what have you. Recent report has it that 45 persons in a truck loaded with some bags of cement and a number of guns, knives and charms were apprehended in the area heading for another onslaught in the already near devastated Jos territory.
Thanks to the ever ready security operatives in the area for living up to the expectation. It is therefore our opinion that the federal government should not take chances in this type of situation if the country must forge ahead, after all for more than forty years after the last civil war, people especially in the South South and South East are still suffering as a result of the war. One of such ways the government should take to stem the tide of religious or ethnic conflict should be through cultural interaction. This is so because, healthy interactions of people can bring about understanding, cultures, and subsequently, lead to socioeconomic can take place in a destabilized society.
Nigeria does not want war anymore, so, enough is enough for the Jos mayhem particularly now that the country is in a verge of development and moreover Nigerians are not animals that could be slaughtered in cold blood. Enough is enough.

TOWARDS THE DEVELOPMENT OF NIGER DELTA
Â
EDITORIAL - TOWARDS THE DEVELOPMENT OF NIGER DELTA
Stories by International media have never been positive for centuries now at Niger Delta. If it is not kidnapping, it is robbery, youth restiveness, destruction and or other social vices.
The cause being that the area is underdeveloped but its resources are used to develop other parts of the country while the residents in Niger Delta live in abject poverty, penury, wretchedness and the likes. Their waters, air, vegetations and wildlife are destroyed due to gas flaring, oil spillage etc.
Upon these, the federal government seems to pay little or no attention; this also seems to be the reason why youths in the area have taken to all kinds of misbehaviour to attract the attention of the federal government.
Though the federal government on her part in different times set up different agencies to tackle the problems of Niger Delta, but they have all failed in their mandates.
Therefore, the establishment of a separate ministry for Niger Delta by the Yar'Adua's administration is a welcome development as it would enable the people of the Niger Delta to manage their problems.
The appointment of Chief Ufot Ekaette, a retired career public/civil servant, the longest serving Secretary of the Government of the federation as the pioneer minister was greeted with hope.
The first stakeholder's meeting held in Uyo between the Honourable minister and the people of Akwa Ibom State has rekindled hope and aspiration as the minister reaffirmed his determination to tackle the problems of Niger Delta frontally.
While supporting the appointment of Chief Ufot Ekaette, the people of Akwa Ibom State are of the opinion that issues of unemployment, human development, youth empowerment, women advancement, infrastructural development, agriculture, education and holistic development should be top on the agenda.
