LG POLLS: Itu Elders Nominate consensus Chairmanship

Ahead of the local government general elections in Akwa Ibom state, political elders and stalwarts have unanimously nominated Engr. Tony James to run as the as the council helmsman. This resolution was made public during a get together gathering at the residence of Engr. James in Mkpeti Itam, Itu Local Government Area recently.
Speaking at the gathering, the elders which comprise of members of operating political parties including the ruling PDP, ACN, APGA and other personalities pledged their support to ensure that Engr. James is sworn in as the Executive Chairman of Itu local government area.
They described Engr. James as a very intelligent man with the capability of taking Itu nation to where it ought to be. Adding that Engr. James has the requisite qualities to man to seek for the Chairmanship position of the local government area.
They saw Engr. James as one who is abundantly blessed with wisdom to accommodate all parties which, to him, showed that he is a kind-hearted and all-accommodating and that every member of the local government irrespective of their political parties affiliation.
The political leaders advised that politics, this time, should be played differently devoid of violence and killing, added that they believe in peace and that it is only with people such as Engr. James who is a clear demonstration of peace and an icon of not only fair leadership but the chosen one to handle the affairs of Itu Local Government Area, thereby pleaded with the people of the area to support him.
Responding, Engr. Tony James appreciated them for finding him fit for the position and promised to give them fair representation. He noted that other wards have gone for the seat leaving Ward 7 behind, therefore promising them that he would look into the state of roads when he gets there. He then called on all elders to take the message to their various wards and inform the people about their unanimous decision. He however, pleaded with all and sundry to bury their interest for his favour, that the appointment on him is a divine one.
Engr. James, therefore, called on individuals, groups and organizations to begin to work for his success to the seat, adding that he would ensure that his government will get to the grassroots.
While thanking the people for their prompt response, he called on all and sundry to burry individual differences and continue to support what he described as a worthy course to be actualized. Those present at the forum included Otuekong Idongesit Udokpo, Hon Jonah Eybo, Emmanuel Abel. Others were Esidor Akwaowo, Okon Edemanwan, Efiok Basey Etim, Edet Useh among other political stalwarts from the local government area.
