Bright Ekerendu Conferred With Doctorate Degree

… as the BRICC celebrates 10 years Anniversary

A former candidate for the House of Representatives, Abuja for Oron Federal Constituency, Rev. Dr. Bright Ekerendu has been conferred with the Honourary Doctorate Degree in Human Resources.

At the ceremony which also marked the ten years Anniversary of Bright International Chaplain Corps (BRICC), His Lordship, ArcBishop (Dr.) Paul Anderson said that the Honourary Doctorate Degree Award on Human Resources conferred on Ekerendu is based on his devotion, dedication and absolute commitment to the service of God and humanity which distinguished him as God’s general in the contemporary time.

The Clergyman maintained that Dr. Ekerendu and his wife Pastor (Mrs.) Mfonobong have dedicated their entire lives for the service of God and humanity since he knew them.

He expressed the hope that the award on Ekerendu will spur him up to do more on mankind and in the vineyard of God  without looking back.

Earlier in her sermon, Pastor (Mrs.) Mfonobong Ekerendu who is the pastor in charge of Church of God Mission, Nung Udoe Itak who began her sermon with songs of praises drew her text from Psalms 105,107 and John Gospel Chapter 2 said  that identifying God’s goodness, love, mercy and faithfulness to man and giving thanks in return gladdens  God and provokes Him and causes God to unleash more of His blessings to man.

She enjoined Christians to develop an habit of working in obedience to God’s word and thanks giving so that other blessings will be the portion of man.

Speaking, the Chief Celebrant, Rev. (Dr.) Bright Ekerendu thanked participants  for responding to the invitation and thanked God for sustaining Bright International Chaplain Corps which marks ten years since its inception, he said that the journey  has not been a smooth one but thanked God who helped him though.  He also thanked his wife, Mfonobong, who stood by him and accorded him full support at all times.

He explained that BRICC is an outreach arm of his Ministry aimed at reaching out to the men and officers of the forces such as the Military and Para-Military such as the Police, Immigration, Customs, Civil Defence and other forces within and outside the shores of Nigeria with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  He stressed that he has successfully established Police Christian Fellowship of Nigeria in the State and has been able to reach out to and organize strong fellowship centres in almost twenty divisions in the state while making plans to cover other Divisions for the year 2012.

Dr. Ekerendu called on public spirited individuals government (both local, state and federal), local and international donors agencies to assist the organization through the provision of vehicles to aid movement so as to carry out the work of God in that direction effective.  The man of God also called for financial assistance to enable the organization to print gospel tracts, calendars as well as purchase of Bibles to officers.

For the record, Rev. (Dr.) Bright Tom Ekerendu, 49, hails from Mbokpo Ukokai inUrue Offong Oruku Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.  Holds Bachelor of Art degree from the University of Calabar and a Diploma in Theology. He started his Christianity in Deeper Life Bible Church where he rose to position of Pastor.  As a member of Scripture Union, Nigeria, he rose to the position of Traveling Secretary in Ikot Ekpene Area in Akwa Ibom State between1998 and 2005.  Today, he is the Chaplain General, Bright International Chaplain Corps (BRICC).

Also speaking at the ceremony, a human right defender and Chairman, Coalition of Civil Society in the State, Hon. (Dr.) Ifot Ifot thanked God for Rev. Bright, the impact he created in the society.  He charged Rev. Ekerendu not to renege in his service to God and humanity, noted that his service will one day be required by God, he pledged his continued support to BRICC.
