…Ibakachi Alumni holds a Reunion

By Eno Brown

It was a day of joy and deep reflection as the Lutheran Senior Science School, Ibakachi Alumni Association held their 2011 re-union meeting with the theme; “infrastructural development and quality education”.

In a keynote address delivered by a renowned legal pactitioner in the state, Chief (Barr) Anselem Eyo, who expressed his gratitude on his being honoured to deliver the address. He pointed out certain issues which if properly implemented will lead to the development of the school in particular and Akwa Ibom state at large.

According to Barr. Eyo, infrastructural development connotes physical buildings, structures and aesthetic provisions that could be provided in an institution while quality education is that education which is functional in scope and concept with the capacity and potentiality of meeting contemporary needs. With these, he agreed that infrastructural development was paramount to the promotion of quality education. In his words, ‘‘I agree that infrastructural development in our educational institution could improve the quality of education of the students of that school’’.

He applauded the Alumni for the effort they have done in terms of infrastructural development of the school and urged them to do more as this was not the only ‘‘of all factors that facilitate or promote quality education, the most impactful are the societal values, influences and exemplary conduct of teachers, parents, and political leaders etc.’’

He further explained that the negative environmental factors and wrong societal values and influences only promote bullying and cultism in the educational institution.

The alumni who may not have considered the welfare of the teachers in the school as any alternative to infrastructure were advised to do so as to improve the standard of education in the state.
