Itam Clan Council Rejoices With Clan Head

It was a gathering of who is who in the Traditional Council Rulers Council of Itam as the Chairman of Conference of Village Heads,  Itu chapter, village and family heads trooped in a large member to  the domain of the head of Itam clan, Itu local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State,  Chief Donald  Uboh to  rejoice  with him over his formal induction as the Clan Head of Itam and was confirmed and certified by the Executive governor of the state, Chief Godswill Akpabio recently.

The event which took place last weekend had many organizations including Noble Men Associations, Women Organization as well as the formal showcasing of certificate of recognition by the state government conferred on him as the recognized Clan Head of the area.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of conference of village heads, Itu Chapter, Chief Ita Bassey, said that the recognition of Chief Uboh is a very interesting event, adding that chIef Uboh deserved it.

Chief Bassey   who is also the village head of Ikot  Andem Itam  stressed that the conferment on the Clan Head is an event which is beyond human expectation given the rigor and process that led to the conferment. In his words,” the installation of Chief Uboh is very interesting it is beyond human expectation. We all admire it because that is what we needed. He deserves it because he needed it. I selected and also took him to wherever he went to ensure that the right thing was done. He went around with me see each of the village heads in different villages to sign his nomination form”.

He urged all those who contested alongside with him to soothe their swords and support the Clan Head with the view to taking Itam clan forward.

However, a non-governmental organization, Noble Men Association (NOMA) which also paid respect to the clan described Chief Uboh as a righteous man where transparent leadership style has endeared many people to him.

According to the President of the group, ”Chief Uboh is a  righteous man and his transparent leadership style has made people to come closer to him”. The group prayed for long life of the Royal Father to pilot the affairs of the clan.

Responding to all the speeches made, the Clan Head of Itam, Chief Donald Uboh, said that he was happy because God would not leave his people. Chief Uboh who stated the Clan Headship race since 2007 promised that there would be a continuous celebration of Itam day he pronounced that every 30^th December would be Itam Day celebration.

He maintained that people should not fight because of a position which they could have served but join hands with the person who is in the position to build it because if such a person cannot get there, his children might succeed in future.

It could be recalled that Chief Uboh who received his certificate of recognition on 28^th June confessed that Clan Heads are not politicians but are watchmen, stressing that people see what an individual does and then make him their clan head.

He thanked the state governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio,  for his laudable projects on Itam Clan including flyover, specialist Hospital, renovation of  schools, constitution of road that spanned from Ekim Itam through Itam Junction to Ikot Oku Ikono among other projects added that the present dispensation should continue in governance come 2011 to do  more life touching projects.
