QIC, Idak Eyop Ends Choir Week

The Qua Iboe Church Choir, Idak Eyop in Uyo Superintendency has rounded off its one week choir celebration with the theme: “flee out of Babylon and sing meaningful songs to God”.

The celebration which began on Monday, July 12th 2010 lasted till Sunday July 18th, 2010 and was attended mostly by the church faithful and other members of the society from various denominations among others who also identified themselves as Christians with the love of religious activities no matter the church affiliation to the celebration. The occasion featured prayer sessions, song ministration, Testimonies, Bible Quiz competition, Drama, seminar and other events which included donation and return of envelopes aimed at generating money for the upkeep the God’s vineyard.

Addressing participants at the occasion the Chairman, planning Committee of 2010 Choir week celebration, Brother George Nsibible noted that the occasion accorded Choir members to look back at their past lives with the view to amending the broken walls of the spiritual Jerusalem and desist from vices which according to him is capable of tarnishing the image of their Christian faith. Such vices according him included hatred, malice, lack of love and conflict explaining that these had over the years been the Babylon confronting them especially chorister.

In order to render meaningful songs to the Almightily God, Nsibible urged them to flee away from such acts for the benefits of their lives and be able to worship the Lord in the way that should be done. He hoped that the occasion would lay a remarkable history in the life of choristers as it was growing progressively with unity, love, peace, equity, humility and respect believing that the ceremony had set a target to be emulated by other Christian fellowship within and outside the church in particular and the community at a large.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Choir Director in the Church, Brother Emmanuel Essien Edem spoke of the benefits of Gospel music to humanity stating that music as the name imply brings excitement, gives hope to the hopeless as well as comfort to broken hearts. Others include repentance to sinners, healing to the sick ones among other things.

He used the occasion to announce a seven member newly appointed Patrons and a Matron also thanked the church committee and entire congregation for the financial support to the choir and called on other spirited persons within and outside the church to cooperate and support for the task ahead of them.

The choir President QIC, Uyo Superintendency, Arch. Elder Uwem Ukpa who stressed on the theme of the celebration declared that the occasion was the first of its kind in the history of the church Qua Iboe church Idak Eyop and gave thanks to God and others who came to grace the occasion. Elder Ukpa stated that in order to realize those goals which were in line with their aims and objectives had decided to personally monitor each choir within the Suprintendency added that if he fails in his responsibility, God will certainly ask him.

Eminent personalities from within and outside the church grace the occasion including our Publisher, Evang. Saviour Ekpe who also donated for the growth of the work of God.
