NOA Felicitates AKHA Speaker

The State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mr Emmanuel Udo, has congratulated the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk, over his recent appointment as speaker in the House of Assembly.

Mr. Udo stated that the speaker’s appointment was as a result of the leadership qualities he had possessed.

He said that the Agency was established in 1993 as an ad hoc body tagged MAMSER and is also an amalgamation of the National Orientation Movement park enlightenment department of the Federal Ministry of Information and the Directorate for Social Mobilization, with the mandate to carry out, propagating, creating awareness on government policies and programmes.

The organization aims at bringing to the people at the grassroots policies of the government, plans as well as interprets policies and act as a feedback. It is also a mechanism between the citizenry and the government by informing the government of the problems of the masses and their expectations.

Furthermore, the director cited the case of witchcraft accusations which have led to the seminar organized by the agency blaming some of these cases on failed pastors.

Mr. Udo stressed that the agency’s activities include helping to check truancy among students which they say would help the free and compulsory education.

The director appealed to the speaker to support the agency by providing vehicle to aid them in the executions of their functions.

In his response, the Speaker thanked the National Orientation Agency for coming to share their belief in making Akwa Ibom State a better place.

  He commended them for what they had done for the state, adding that though the Agency was a Federal Agency in Akwa Ibom State and so it needed help to move the State forward.

The speaker charged them to redouble their effort and help the government in ensuring that the children were in school as well as stop those few still hawking during school hours as spelt out by the law.

He applauded the agency to inform the people of what it was doing as well as inform them of the need to do the right thing and assured them of the government assistance toward their course.
