Itam Clan Head receives Certificate of recognition

The Clan Head of Itam in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and the village head of Ikot Ekang, Itam, His Highness, Etebom Donald Uboh has concluded plans to present the certificate of recognition given to him by the Akwa Ibom State government as a substantive Clan Head of Itam to his people.

The Royal whose late father, Late Chief Archibong Uboh was also the village head of Ikot Ekang Itam who was a recognized group head of Ibiaku Itam was recently awarded and presented with a certificate of recognition by the state government through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Paul Ekpo recently.

The event which is scheduled for this weekend, Friday 30th July 2010 will take place at his palace, Ikot Ekang Itam along Itu Road and is expected to attract a large percentage of the society within and outside the state.

Already the palace of His Royal Highness, Etebom Donald Uboh is gradually wearing a new look while becoming a beehive of activities as a result of influx of people coming in to do one business or the other while the environment as well as the roads leading to the palace had received proper attention.

Speaking with Century Newsfront in his palace, Etebom Uboh spoke of the overwhelming support he had received from his people right from the time he became the substantive and certified village head of Ikot Ekang Itam in 1996.

He said prior to this he head been the Secretary of the village Council for a period of eight years and after the death of his predecessor, Chief Edem Udo Usoro he took charge of the villager as a caretaker until in 1996 the people appreciated his works and selected him as their head.

On the 30th July, 2010 event proper, Etebom Donald Uboh who is from a Royal family is ready to present to the people the certificate accorded him by the government for the stool he is occupying which for the sake of courtesy and neutral understanding he had to gather the people and rejoice together within them.

About his past experiences in life, the Royal Father said after his graduation from the Holy Trinity college, popularly called, HOTRICO where he obtained certificate, he worked briefly with the Nigeria Tobacco Company and later left the company to join the Nigeria Army and served as a Military Police during the civil war after the war he retired and decided to be on his own.

Being still young and hearty he became a dealer in timber until he accepted the call by his people to be their head. Chief Uboh of the Catholic faith is happily married with six children four males and two females.

He however thanked the Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Paul Ekpo for feeling the pulse of the people of the area and acted rightly by giving him Certificate of recognition.
