YOUTH BODY CONDEMNS KIDNAPPING IN AKWA IBOM, TASKS GOVT. ON SECURIT

The National Young Adults Council of Christian Methodist Episcopal Church of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State has moved against the increasing wave of kidnappings and allied crimes in the state. Rising from its annual meeting recently at Ikot Obioko in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of the state, the youths vehemently condemn upsurge of violent crimes in the state and vowed to use their platform to sensitize the people in order to reverse the trend. The condemnation which was contained in a communiqué jointly signed by Mr. Akpata N. Umoh, national organizing secretary/ chairman, communiqué committee, Ms Patience Michael and Mr. Enestus Silas expressed worries over the spate of kidnappings, armed robbery and assassinations in the state saying, the conference had dwelled wholely on such social ills and devised consistent prayer as a frame work to make youths denounced involvement in criminality. “The youths have also condemn in her conference the various crimes perpetuated by youths, such as kidnappings, armed robbery to mention a few. “The youths have resolved to shun all malice and social vices to sincerely serve God so that He will grant us the grace to affect other youths in the country positively, the group stressed. Besides, the body praised both President Good-Luck Jonathan and the state governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio for their strives at transformation the country and the state respectively. They particularly emphasized on the area of human as well as infrastructure development of the country which according to them, has brought hope to the people. While appreciating Bishop Kenneth W. Carter and the College of Bishops for granting CMEC in Nigeria an African Bishop last June also praised Hon. Bassey Willie, member representing Onna state constituency in the state House of Assembly, Prof. Monday P. Akpan and Rev. Godwin Umoette for their gestures and support during the retreat. It appealed to the Federal and state governments ahead of the general elections in 2011 to ensure free and fair elections in the country by strengthening the security agencies in the country. The retreat tagged, “My hour of Restoration” was led by the youth President, Mr. Inyang Inyang and featured songs ministration, deliverance, breaking of causes, lectures and evangelism amongst others.
