We Are Marginalized By Akpabio Government – Efiok Akpan

A veteran Engineer in the state and a philanthropist who also the Chief Executive Officer of Ebasco Constructing Engineers, Enwe Street, Uyo, Engr. Obong Efiok Akpan has raised an alarm over what he termed “Non inclusion of Akwa Ibom Engineers by the administration of Chief (Dr) Godswill Akpabio in various State and federal projects in Akwa Ibom State”.

In an interview with journalists in Uyo, he said in Akpabio administration he supposed to have given Akwa Ibom Engineers prominent in the award of various States and Federal contacts to see that charity surely starts from home before outside, noting that Akwa Ibom state had been remarkably excelled during the administration of the immediate past Governor, Arc. Obong Victor Attah in terms of award of various projects to Akwa Ibom State Engineers and quality Jobs delivery in his governance.

According to Engr. Akpan, members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in the state are always part and parcel of any given administration as one of the professional bodies  in Nigeria, and expressed the surprise why members of the body coud not be incorporated into his government describing it as “unsatisfactory”.

While describing the relationship existing between Akpabio administration and his colleagues as “cordial” he however advocated for the inclusion of Engines in Akwa Ibom in Chief Dr. Akpabio Governance to enable them to be part and parcel of contracts execution in Akwa Ibom devoid of discrimination.

On high rate of unemployment in Akwa Ibom, Engineer Akpan who is also Eduek Ibesikpo and “Unwana Ibibio” called on the State Chief Executive to create Job opportunity to jobless ones by ways of revamping the ailing industries. Others according to him include, opening of agricultural farms to the teeming jobless Akwa Ibom indigenes, aside the Integrated Farmer Scheme project in a bid to boost large food production in the State and minimize unemployment.

The renowned Engineer who is also the president, Men Fellowship of Baptize Church said over the years now, he has been involving himself in different types of humanitarian services particular among the less privileged in Akwa Ibom noting that it is over 100 studying in various higher institutions of learning in Nigeria are so benefited from his gesture.

He challenged the operations of various NGOs in Akwa Ibom to emulate such exemplary qualities in the area of human development describing such virtue as” Unique” among the Christians.

Just like the indigeneous Engineers performed during Obong Attah's 8 years in AKS where many roads were left untarred and all money paid. Just like the ring roads.
Most if not all are money making ventures.
