LAWMAKER URGES CITIZENS ON EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

A member representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Otuekong Nsikak Ekong has called on the people of the state to unite and work towards the development of education as the future of the state depends on it.

The lawmaker said this while commenting on the 2009 annual dialogue of Charles Esu foundation held recently described late Charles Esu as a teacher, educationist and community leader.

According to him, the late Esu was a politician and admirer of development who was committed to serving his people meritoriously. And also hunted, he contributed immensely to the people of Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara when he was the chairman of the then Otoro country council and as a vice chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government which he invested much on human capital development that has today produce intellectuals of good and quality reputation in Akwa Ibom State and indeed Nigeria that can represent us anywhere.

He commended the children of Chief Esu for establishing the foundation for educational development of the younger generation and advised them to emulates then father’s good qualities to be able to face the task ahead of sustaining the foundation have a successful foundation.

However, landed Governor Godswill Akpabio for making education his priority through ensuring a free and compulsory education in the state, adding that the future of Akwa Ibom Child will be fulfilled and advised the people of the state to make good use of this golden opportunity by embraced it in totally in order to eradicate illiteracy and enhance development in the state.

And further called on those in leadership positions to always have vision for their people so as to alleviate their problems and restore hope while also impore followers to continue to support their leaders to succeed in all levels and therefore assist in the economic and social growth of the state.
